[Dhammapada, Anger, verse 223]

Introduction: Metta-bhavana (Cultivation on Loving-kindness) is a meditation practice taught by the Buddha to his ordained monks to develop an altruistic attitude of love and friendliness for the well-being and safety for oneself and others. When this meditation is ardently practiced, eleven blessings are accrued, including one sleeps happily, one does not suffer bad dreams, free from fire, poison and weapons, one's mind get quickly concentrated, the facial expression is calm and serene, etc. Just as a mother, at the risk of her life, watches over her only child, and never wants anything in return. Metta Sutta protects you and me in the spiritual path, free from distracted thoughts and worried, enters into the realms of liberation. * The practice of meditation on in-and-out breathing (Anapanasati) is also taught.
