Nature
The name of the Centre is 'Hong Kong Buddhist
Lodge of Laity'.
The Centre is an organisation for Buddhist
laity in Hong Kong who are subservient to the teachings of
the Buddha and who inherit the fine tradition of Buddhism
to purify life and embody Humanistic Buddhism. Adopting a
contemporary, knowledgeable, rational, open-minded, simple,
non-theistic, non-idol and non-sectarian attitude, it introduces
Buddhist teachings and promotes concepts of practising Buddhist
teachings to the community of Hong Kong. It strives to promote
the integration of Buddhist teachings into contemporary life.
The address of the Centre is 2/F (Meditation Hall and Lecture
Rooms) and 16/F (Office), Hong Kong Jewellery Building, 178-180
Queen's Road Central, Hong Kong.
The Centre is a non-profit making charity
organisation approved by and registered with the HKSAR Government.
Aim
The aim of the Centre is: 'Experience and understand
life with both wisdom and faith.'
Duties
The Centre liaises with and unites all members
and, under the organisation of the Centre, assists the laity
in learning, understanding and experiencing a happy life,
and spreads such happiness to other members of the community.
It sets up the image of authentic Buddhist teachings, admits
laity followers to receive the teachings of the Buddha, so
that the general public understands that Buddhism is not superstitious
faith and at the same time followers of different religious
faith understand Buddhist teachings.
Membership
Any laity who agrees to and is willing to abide
by the Articles of Association of the Centre may apply for
becoming a member of the Centre.
